As Chinese companies accelerate their expansion into overseas markets, intellectual property (IP) risks arising from cross-border operations have increasingly become a critical issue that cannot be overlooked in the course of internationalization. From IP litigation before U.S. federal courts and the frequent issuance of Temporary Restraining Orders (TROs) in the cross-border e-commerce sector, to trademark, copyright, and patent preemptive filings, as well as the establishment and enforcement of IP rights overseas, Chinese companies are facing an increasingly complex cross-border IP legal landscape.

To further strengthen exchanges between China and the United States on the practice of intellectual property law and to gain deeper insights into the latest developments and practical issues in U.S. cross-border IP litigation, the Institute of Intellectual Property and Competition Law at Shanghai Jiao Tong University will host a forum titled “Frontiers and Key Practical Issues in U.S. Cross-Border Intellectual Property Litigation — China-U.S. Intellectual Property Protection Exchange.”

The event will bring together attorneys from Herui Law Firm (U.S.) and faculty members and students specializing in intellectual property at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Discussions will cover differences between Chinese and U.S. IP protection regimes, the U.S. litigation system, IP risks in cross-border e-commerce, and strategies for Chinese companies to protect and enforce their rights overseas.
